NUTS & BOLTS OF BUYING A HOME
In this workshop you will learn about the costs involved with buying a home, the homebuying process, loan affordability, mortgage payments and interest calculations as well as first time homebuyer assistance programs.
All San Francisco ownership opportunity programs through the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development (MOHCD) require completion of 10 hours of homebuyer education by ALL members of the household age 18 and older, as follows:
1) MOHCD Homebuyer Program Orientation – 2 hrs.
2) First Time Homebuyer Workshop(s) – 6 hours. Attending this event ONLY SATISFIES HALF OF THIS REQUIREMENT. You must also attend Part 1 of the workshop with the LGBT Center to receive credit for all 6 hours.
- LGBT Center’s First-time Homebuyer Workshop Pt. 1: Budgeting, Saving, Credit, & Debt (3 hours)
- LGBT Center’s First-time Homebuyer Workshop Pt. 2: Nuts & Bolts of Buying a Home (3 hours)
3) Individual Counseling at the same agency where the First Time Homebuyer Workshops were attended – 2 hours.
